About Us
About Medical Opportunities – Our History
Medical Opportunities is a program of the Michigan Health Council (MHC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For over 65 years, MHC has assisted physicians in matching with opportunities throughout the state of Michigan. Medical Opportunities launched their first web based physician recruitment program in 1994 - Medical Opportunities in Michigan: MOM. Since that time the program has grown to include Medical Opportunities in Ohio – MOO, Opportunities in Medicine in Indiana – OMI, and Practice Opportunities in Pennsylvania, POP. More than 180,000 physician jobs have been matched with registered candidates through Medical Opportunities.

Deb has over 24 years of management experience with the past 17 years spent in physician recruitment and hospital administration. Deb focuses on the promotion of the Michigan Health Council physician recruitment websites and introduces MHC’s recruitment solutions to hospitals and healthcare associations throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana.
Kim Burley
Director, Physician Services

Kim is a native of Hanover, Michigan, located in the Jackson county area. She graduated from Jackson Community College and Michigan State University with a BA in Communications. Kim has a strong background in physician recruitment and retention. Prior to joining the Health Council, Kim worked at Foote Health System as the Manager of Physician Recruitment and Retention for thirteen years. Most recently, she worked as the Physician Liaison at Sparrow Health System for three years. She has recruited over 300 physicians and mid-levels and has expertise in physician relations and contracting. Kim is an active member of the Michigan Recruitment and Retention Network (www.mrrn.org) and served as Vice-President in 2006.
Jodi Schafer

Jodi’s primary work focuses on member customer service and candidate sourcing in all specialties for our online programs. Jodi received her BA from Kalamazoo College in secondary education and has over four years experience in Human Resources and Recruiting. Her healthcare background began as a Human Resources Manager for a medical billing company and blossomed into HR consulting for small physician practices in the state of Michigan.
